Hot Chocolate Snowman Ornament

I love when I can make cute gifts for people for Christmas. I love this Hot Chocolate Snowman Ornament because not only does it make a great gift, but it looks great on my tree too! And really…who doesn’t love hot chocolate?

The other thing that’s great about these is that they’re CHEAP to make, AND the ornament is plastic. So many times I see DIY ornaments that are filled with things and they’re glass. In my house, glass ornaments would be scary to fill with things and put on the tree. If you want another good gift idea you can make, try out these DIY Recycled Candles!

You will need:

Clear Plastic Pint Jar Ornament
Black Buttons
Carrot Nose Buttons
Hot Chocolate
Hot Chocolate Marshmallows
Hot Glue Gun
Black Permanent Marker
Ribbon or piece of material that’s 1/2″ wide or larger (I used some scrap fleece material)

I liked the ornaments from the Dollar Tree that I linked to specifically because they’re only $1, they’re plastic, and they have a screw-on lid to make it easy to actually fill and use your gift when you give it to someone. Use your hot glue gun to glue the silver ornament hanger onto the ornament itself.

Then, use the glue gun to glue on two black eyes, and the adorable carrot button nose (aren’t they so cute?!). Then use your black permanent marker to draw on a smile for your Hot Chocolate Snowman Ornament.

Use your hot glue gun to glue on a scrap of material for the scarf on to the twist-on lid itself. I just cut a 1″ strip of material out of some scrap fleece material I had left from another project and just glued it around the lid, overlapping the ends so that they made the scarf’s “tail”.

Use a spoon and scroop in 3-4 spoons of the hot chocolate marshmallows first. Then use a spoon to fill in the rest of the ornament with hot chocolate. The ornaments hold almost the exact amount of hot chocolate mix needed for two cups of hot chocolate.

Screw the lid with the scarf attached to it tightly onto the bottom of the hot chocolate filled ornament. Hang it on a sturdy branch until they’re ready to be given away as gifts! These would also be cute to sell at craft fairs, or to give as party favors etc!

If you make it, we’d love to know! Let us know in the comments, or send a picture of your finished project to downredbuddrive@gmail.com and we may just feature you on our social media sites!
