Starbucks Candle | Easy DIY Gift Idea

Cool weather rolls around, and all I can think about are all the amazing seasonal Starbucks drinks that will be out soon, like the PSL and the Peppermint Mocha Latte. But, if we’re being real here I love Starbucks year round. This Starbucks Candle is super easy to DIY and is the perfect gift to give a coffee lover!
This Starbucks Candle would be perfect to give as a stand alone gift, or even as a pairing with a Starbucks gift card. You can scent them with one of the seasonal scents (I’ll tell you where to get those below), or just scent them with a plain coffee scent to give any time of the year. Either way, these are so easy!
DIY Starbucks Candle
One of my favorite things about these super simple DIY Starbucks Candle is that it’s made in an actual Starbucks ceramic mug. It’s the perfect size for a candle, and they’re pretty cheap on Amazon too! It just helps to sell the Starbucks theme of the candle so easily that it’s the perfect vessel for it.

Scents for these, like I said, can be just plain coffee, OR you can use the scents I found on Amazon that do an amazing job of copying Starbucks seasonal drink scents. My favorite for the fall is a Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) or a Peppermint Mocha in the winter.
You will need:
Starbucks Mug
Candle Wax (the 1 lb bag of wax I linked to will do about 2 of these mug-sized candles)
Brown Candle Dye
Wick
Scent (Pumpkin Spice Latte HERE, Peppermint Mocha HERE, plain coffee HERE)
Hot glue gun
Pencil

When you’re trying to measure out the amount of wax you need, using the flakes I linked to above, you will use about 1 1/2 containers full of the wax flakes for the melted wax to fill your container appropriately. Use a double boiler to melt the wax. I just use a glass bowl on top of a pot of boiling water, and it works great.
Add in the colorant. It’s highly concentrated, so you only need to shave off like an 1/8 of an inch for each mug you plan on filling. Mix it in until it’s completely melted. Then add in your scent. Using the scents I got HERE, I used about 16 drops for the candle. This gave it a nice scent without being underwhelming or overpowering when it burns.
Before pouring your wax into your ceramic mug, you will need to make sure your wick is in first. Use a bead of hot glue on the bottom of the wick and glue it to the bottom center of your mug. Place a pencil on top of the cup, and center the wick in the middle of the cup and wrap the excess around the pencil and tie it so it stays in place when you pour the wax in.
Let your candle sit undisturbed like this for 4-6 hours, or until it’s fully cooled. I had to put mine in a place where I knew my kids and my husband weren’t going to bump it. Once it’s completely cool, trim the wick even with the top of the mug so it’s even.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte Starbucks Candle is perfect for fall, or for anyone who lives that PSL life year round. We all have one friend (or sibling)!
