Snowman Cookies | Dress Up Store Bought Cookies

Homemade cookies are awesome, and I love making them, but realistically I don’t always have the time or energy to do that. Sometimes we’re heading to functions that need cute desserts, or I want to do something special and am just out of time to pull it off. My solution? Amping up store bought desserts. These Snowman Cookies are super cute and use store-bought sugar cookies.
You could always make your own sugar cookies if you want to make these totally from scratch, but I didn’t. My kids thought these were adorable, despite the fact I used store bought sugar cookies, and that’s what counts. Right?

Snowman Cookies
You will need:
Store bought sugar cookies (I got mine in the Walmart bakery section)
Black Dot Sprinkles
Carrot Sprinkles
Powdered Sugar
Light Corn Syrup (the clear kind)
Milk
Vanilla (optional)

The Frosting
Okay, I’ll be real with you. I’ve been making cookie frosting like this for so many years that I don’t use a recipe anymore. I know what ingredients the frosting needs to taste good, and to dry so that you can stack the cookies without it ruining your decorations. I dump in some powdered sugar, add a dash of vanilla, a dollop of corn syrup, and a splash of whole milk. If you want to use a recipe (which is probably wise if you’ve not made it a thousand times like I have) then you can use this one, as it’s always worked well for me.
The Decorations

I’m a sprinkle addict. Seriously, I have so many containers on hand at all times it’s amazing. I use the leftover bits and bottles to make these fun Leftover Sprinkles Cupcakes for Christmas every year and they’re SO cute and the easiest to make. You could even use store bought cupcakes for those too! Anyway, these Snowman Cookies use some perfect black dot sprinkles I found on Amazon (seriously a huge bag and really high quality, definitely worth the cost) and some Easter sprinkles I had with cute little carrots for the Snowman noses. You can also buy that Easter mix on Amazon HERE, but if you don’t want to, you can always draw a little nose on with orange icing. I’m lazy, so I used a carrot sprinkle.

Ice the Snowman Cookies with white icing, I just put mine on there all willy nilly. Then immediately put the decorations on for the snowmen. I used 5 black dots for the mouth, two for the eyes, and a single carrot nose. I dropped them on with my fingers and prayed they landed in the right spot, but you can use tweezers or small tongs if you want them to be perfect too.

Let them sit untouched until the icing is dry before you stack them in a container. If you stack them too early, you will be sad. You’ll be sad because you will destroy your Snowman Cookies. That’s about it! These would be great for a cookie exchange, a family holiday get together, or just a fun activity to do with the kids on a cold day. Happy making!
